I almost burnt the house down

I put the plastic washing basket on the side and caught the switch on the hob, then got in the bath.I could smell something, but thought it was the twats next door having a fire.It also looked smokey but I thought my eyes blurry . I went downstairs and saw my towels afire in the basket If they had been dry I would be dead now.

i only have to over do a slice of toast and the alarm goes crazy

I suppose if they'd have been dry they'd have caught quicker, MG, and you'd have known about it before you went the bath?

this is my bedroom carpet were i stupidly lite a candle about a year ago and i fell asleep and the smoke alarm woke me up and saved my life about 4 in the morning, the room was covered in smoke ..note the new piece of carpet i had to put in

what happened that night was it wasnt in a decent holder and spilled onto the carpet, wax fire....smoke...near death

I've never had lit candles ever, except in power cuts and when weve had the electric cut off.
