Became a bodybuilder, MJ. I just think it's a bit of a departure from 110m hurdling (although Donna Hartley did the same from 400m running).

Good to see her enthusiastic and still grounded enough to use the BBC as a birthday card. As for looking thin, I agree to an extent. However, the athletes still appear to have an arse about them which is always an indicator that they haven't gone too far as there is fat laid over and around the muscle as there should be.

I agree with that but then distance runners with an East African background always seem to look spare. There's something in that because Kenya's record in international competition is one of disproportionate success for a country of its size. Training can only get you so far.

It's like the Tarahumara of Mexico for endurance running, the (West) African/Caribbean influence on sprinting and the fact that if you're from the Dominican Republic, you are likely to be able to cart a baseball over 100 yards more than most. Interesting read below. The stats on Kenya at the Seoul Olympics are telling bearing in mind that the winners they talk about were all distinct athletes.
