hard boiled egg, how long?

saw madam lawson on telly at week-end,
she reckoned boil for one minute,
switch off heat,
and leave egg ( or eggs ) in the boiling water for ten minutes.
i've always given mine ten minutes of boiling to be sure.
can't stand runny eggs.
am trying it now.
we shall see.

not bad really.
the yoke was,,,,,,
well,
not runny,
firm.

not "yellow and powdery",
as she put it.

but the white was just a little bit runny in the middle.
not bad though,
still ate it.

will give it another go sometime.
maybe boil for two minutes.

I prefer mine boiled for 3 minutes and standin 1 minute to cook in its shell, take the top off and then dip in my soldiers eric

I like mine with yolk

if you want runny for dipping, eggs into cold water, bring to boil, when boiling give 'em another minute or 90secs at most then out and top 'em

you have to practice to get 'em right for you

if you want hard boiled for sarnies, doesn't matter, boil the little fuckers for 5, 7, 9 whatever

its one of the hardest things in cookery to do IMO.

always got hard,
or runny.

i just want mine for sarnies.

but nigella got me thinking,

plus,
there's an eco issue here.

taking a lot less time to boil.

will have another go sometime anyway.

if it's just for sarnies, boil the bastards for 3mins and leave to sit in their shells till you want to make it
