I've used the simple kits (bitter and lager) and had some decent results...nothing fancy though.

Its not from grapes Sooter, gave me a bottle of eldeberry and Beetroot once and it was superb.

You can home brew stout but it can be very temperamental - remember my old man doing it way back when and it was the only thing that ever failed, the assumption being on the grounds of temperature.

Mwemories of his efforts include a very palatable lager (what the fuck would I know, I was about five, I just remember it being like slightly tart pop) and a barley wine in particular that could floor a zebra (which of course I never had).
