Chinese New Year.

Yep, it's that time of year again here in Chinkville.
Fifteen days of fireworks, family reunions and fucking huge dinners with the odd Shandy thrown into the mix.
It's the 'Year of the Rabbit' this time.
I'll be glad when all the shite is over for another year.

The calendar new year is also celebrated and this is expressed as the Yan Dan, whereas the Lunar year is expressed as the Shing Nien.
It's more about the 'Spring Festival' than the new lunar year.
The fifteenth day is also a very important day...it's the 'Lantern Day'.
I do not really get involved in all of the traditional stuff as I am not a Chink and to be frank, I am actually very bored of it and generally just let my wife do all the traditional stuff with her family whilst I take a holiday from work.
However, I do have a couple of meals with her parents out of respect.
