Re: The cars of my youth
Ford Escort 1.6 Mk II was my first ever motor.
Had a Lexus for the last 2 years (previously had Audi's) out here and will get another next year. I swear by them now. The missus drives a Merc which I have driven twice as my car was being serviced on both occassions, but that is the only reason that I would drive hers. There is nowt like a Lexus in my opinion and once you've driven one then you will stick with them.

What's the rolling eyes for Tony?
Thought you knew I was a Lexus man.
Or is it the Escort Mk II as my first car?

I did the first time Tony.
But I don't get it.
Never has a 'Sierra' but my old man had the model before it. Was it call the 'Granada' or something like that?

This is why my career as a comedian lasted as long as I would with two 18 year old chav slappers taking turns to suck my cock while I lay back in stockings and suspenders..

OK. Sorry mate.
Yeah my old mans was a 'Ghia' (remember that shit?).
I think the punter paid 'Ford' a bit of extra dough to get the 'Ghia' word or the letter 'X' next to the name.
Funny old days.
They are all still at that sort of shite though under different guises.

Re: The cars of my youth
I started driving in 1965 while still 16 years old. I had a black 1957 Ford Popular that cost £10.
I followed that with a Morris Minor and in the 45 years I 've been driving I have owned over 60 cars! (I used to trade in the 70's and 80's)
My favs are the jags...I've had 5 of them and would still have one now but the expense, what with parts, service, insurance and gas prices is now silly.
These days the wife insists we have to use a shitty Mondeo

Like Jags myself. Never driven one though.
For some reason they are not seen much out here.
Not sure why as most motors are on the roads.
Saw two 'Bentleys' (sp) in a hotel car park the other day but can honestly say that I have never seen a Jag or Daimler. Weird.

Re: The cars of my youth
This is the greatest car I ever had....I bought it off Ebay in 2004 for £1400 and had a great summer with it
Then put it back on Ebay and got £1500!

I remember "Ghia" appearing organically as a punchline in a conversation when I was doing my A levels:
Teacher: These kids are driving better cars than me. I mean, X has a Ford Granada
Pupil: Sir, don't you have a Ford Granada?
Teacher: Yes, but his is a Ghia
Pupil: (in cod Italian accent) And yours-a issa notta Ghia?
(shit, if anyone doesn't understand the way back when vernacular that equated the word "gear" with "really good", that falls flat on its face. Fuck it, read it anyway. If you wanted a laugh and I disappointed you, well, that just turns... me... on)
