i had some terrible news this morning and cant stop crying, i wont be around much in the next few weeks
my mum died this morning

i havent got a passport

That's terrible news, She - you were only saying the other day as well.

Contact the consular authorities meanwhile, they should be able to arrange something for you to travel on compassionate grounds.

That's the emergency passport form, She. I know you'd usually go through Paris now but that can be done through Amsterdam. Siobhan qualifies for the same as well (your old passport and her birth certificate with your details on it would identify her enough)

i have no confidence on the phone, i panic...i will call my social worker in the morning and get her to help me

i left my old passport in a photocopy machine and it was handed into the police who sent it to the embassy, who sent it back to the uk

That won't matter, She - they'll have a record of it, especially if it has been returned to the UK through the FCO.

You'll need something to identify you, though, I think the form's clear on that. Tell them about the previous passport as well as that will help. If you ever deal with passports, immigration, the FCO or anything in that vein, they prefer as much info as you can provide and will ask for anything they're short of. Oddly something I have recent experience of (although not for me).

You need to be back over here and around family, She. Get this out the way as soon as you can, it's not as much of a chore as you'd expect it to be and you don't need hassle coming out of it.

She, you know Martijn is eligible for a British passport too, don't you? Born abroad of a British-born mother, I have that in my own family (Australian cousins) and they qualify for both nationalities. I don't know if you intend to take him as well or leave him with his dad, but were it me, I would.
