Calling Kit

My standard canon lens seems to be playing up on auto focus ...not focusing in auto mode and making the red dots come on and take the shot. If i turn auto focus off it works manually no problem. Put on the tamron lens and that works fine in auto focus, so that tells me its the lens and not the camera body... Is it just the lens thats fucked?

If it is which one of these would suffice best bearing in mind i have the tamron 70 300 zoom

Thats a damn good lens if you can go to £399 , it has an anti vibration button on it, I just leave it on all the time, and the difference in sharpness is very noticeable, plus its 2.8 right through the zoom, which means you should not have to use flash very often at all.

With your lens, they do go like that , there is a button on the side of the camera by the lens, if you put the lens on its max aperature, press that button, look through the wrong end of the lens, then zoom, it may be sticking, when it should open and close, which means its fucked.

Just checked and a few places have the lens above at £350

Mega thanks kit , will have a look at both suggestions

put it on F36 and it opens and shuts on both auto and manual focus ....but it never made a difference in auto focusing still wont let you take the picture because its not focusing ....The tamron works ok must be the lens ?

Thats its smallest aperture , you need to put it on its biggest aperature (which is the smallest number) , and then zoom in and out

3.5 nothing kit, guess it fucked. Doubt it will be worth repairing?

I was quoted the best part of £200 to fix the same problem with one of mine.

Stick it on ebay and say whats the prob with it, somebody will buy it who can fix it themselves

i`m trying to decide whether to take my camera to uk or not, i`d probably break it knowing me hehe
