John Higgins Story
Anyone buying into this?
Maybe my extreme hatred for tabloids like the NOTW is bluring my vision but 250k for losing 4 frames doesn't add up.
Just looking at the market for frame 13, there is currently 65k matched and I presume this is bigger amount seeing as it's the world championships. Presuming that the Ukranians want at least 250k for themselves and Higgins' opponent would not be much more than around 2/1 for any frame you need a lot of liquidity.
No bookie would accept any more than about 20 quid on a single frame if they even offer that market.

It's on film. Bang to rights and Barry Hearn knows it too.
As for them saying they agreed because they were frightened and wanted to get out of there.

Re: John Higgins Story
The player's manager Pat Mooney has resigned from the governing body's board.
Now why would he do that then?

Re: John Higgins Story
If he and his manager wanted a few quid why involve a third party? It's a do it yourself job and you could spread it over about 40 frames in a season.

Significant quotes from Hearn:
'I don't think I've ever felt so let down or kicked. We're working so hard on revitalising the game and there are lots of people pulling in the right direction.
'We wanted the headlines to be about Steve Davis' revitalisation, Stephen Hendry's recovery...but all we're talking about is the News of the World expose on John Higgins and his manager, which has left me feeling devastated.'
'We can't afford, nor will I tolerate, anybody or anything that adversely affects the integrity of the game. I take this matter terribly seriously, obviously not prejudging. That's why there's a disciplinary process.
'I'm not prepared to see the sport die under this type of publicity. I know there may be reasons, excuses - but I don't want to get involved in that.

Give the lad a break. chances are that his career will go to pot now, suppose he'll just have to chalk it down to experience.
