i know it's just me being a silly old fool,and all,but......

this morning,
oh dear,
not sure what to do.
i know what i SHOULD do.

i stood waiting for my bus,as per.
and,as 6.32. approached,
she rounded the corner down the road,
and marched up the hill ( it's the only way to describe her gait),
to my bus-stop.

i was bracing myself ( as i do ),
never sure if i should speak,
or not.
well,i stood close to the downhill side of the shelter,
so she would have to draw level with me,
to see me.

and as she did so,
oh dear,
she looked at me ,
full on,
smiled that smile,
and in the gentlest tone,
said "hello".

and then whoosh!
as if the devil himself was trailing her,
she was gone.

okay,
we all know how i'd like,
WOULD HAVE LIKED,
to interpret this,
i hope that it's not that,
i really do.
feeling really bad about this now.

so,
and i really can't see it being anything else,
i'll read it as she's just being nice,
her smile being one of delight.
delight in the fact that i seem an okay sort maybe.
certainly not threatening in any way.
delight that this silly old cnut has the hots for her,but it's harmless enough,and he'll get over it,maybe.
and leave it at that.

maybe she has sussed me and is having similar inclinations.
if so, she'll probably get tired of waiting for me to make a move,
and one day she'll just disappear.
never to be seen again.
and then,
maybe if i come clean with her,
she'll disappear,
never to be seen again.

there is plenty of time to let her pass my stop and be gone,
before i get there.
i think i should do this.
and shall resolve to do so.
but it's so nice to see her.
and really,
it would be great if things could stay as they are.

i need to get my shower,
and go shopping.

ps,
building myself up to tell her she has a lovely smile,
and maybe ask her what her name is.
depending on how the first bit goes.
if i ever manage to blurt it out.
we'll see.
