okay,so todays cook-up IS..................
the usual veg boiled seperately.
broccoli,
savoy cabbage (MUST be savoy)with butter melting over the top.
carrots and swede.
into the hotpot goes;
mixed beans in tom.sauce,
mixed bean salad,
broad beans,
garden peas,
two good handfulls of sultanas,
sliced carrots,
fried onions,
fried mushrooms,
jar of homepride beef an ale cass.mix.(smelled like branston pickle .can't win 'em all).
and i've roasted a good lump of minced beef to mix in later.
waiting for it all to cool.
then i shall take good helpings of hotpot and veg over to my mother.
ready for a helping here actually.

Does it come out thick, Eric? There's no "thickener" in there but at the same time, there's no way that'll come out anything but robust, surely?

the branston was thick.
it's quite soupie mate.
not watery.
and will,
i'm sure,
sustain my mother and i,
over the weekend.
i do the above,
with variations,
every weekend.
it'll sit until monday lunchtime.
i just microwave portions as and when.

everything went into the hotpot except cabbage and broccoli.
hotpot then dished up on a bed of savoy cabbage.
broccoli scattered over the top.
then microwaved.
out of the microwave,
and thick slices of mclelland on top,
melting to the heat of the plateful.
not watery at all.
but then,
i only just put enough water in the hotpot at the beginning so as not to dry up.,
and i think that adding the fried onions acts as a thickenner.
it'll do for me.
