Why do people laugh at other peoples misfortunes

Just had a quick run with bev down to the nearest supermarket to get a few bits and bobs. On the way in with the trolly i see a chance to get in the revolving door if i'm quick, so made a dart for the opening with the trolly, aproaching the door very brisk walking pace ...not running i slipped on something that had spilt on the floor (turned out it was like fairy fucking liquid) and i went sprawling with trolly smashed into the revolving doors which stopped to a halt, every fucker gawping at me and Bev in tears with laughter ffs ....very much felt like a right twatting lemon

Hardly misfortune, BOAT, more a Frank Spencer moment. I know a bloke who is legendary for it, can't pick a menu up in a restaurant without setting fire to it with the candle midtable and then when trying to throw water over it, misses completely and hits the Pope who was just passing by at the time.

As long as you're ok, it's usually fair game. Was at the nags the other night and on the second when the leader tipped up at the last. Made sure the faller got up before anything else, but I wasn't going to not celebrate the winner (the boy got Hot Wheels)

Suppose it was just a one off bert, and i'll think twice about rushing again...wanted to get back to make up for yesterdays loss off racing
