Just woke up.
The ride nearly killed me.
Ate a huge dinner when I got back and drank a bottle of Spitfire Ale.
I don't remember much after that.

Cycled up to Mum's yesterday with my 8-year old. Thoroughly enjoyed it, decent blowout.

Cycled back today. Struggled every inch from flagfall. No appreciable height differential. Completely bemused.

Today's plan was to take the kids on a cycle along a linear park to a train station, train to the city centre, ferry to Seacombe, cycle up the estuary to New Brighton and possibly back to the ferry and train back (or just train back, depending in time) to a different station, same linear park home.

Glassed tyre less than a mile and a half in, called for reinforcements, Mrs Bert arrived with a spare inner while my boy spotted the puncture (which is impressive). Attempted a repair but the cement I had in my kit was frankly shit and it never took. Shocking irony is that the last three times I've taken that bike out, I've had three distinct front wheel punctures.

Anyway, sets off again, gets to station... bus replacement service. Time continues to ebb away as we get a connecting train to the river. We take the ferry, cycle along and the return ferry is now not an option because of the time. Round of adventure golf, something to eat, proper ice cream and train back. Linear park in darkness, a good day's riding and thoroughly enjoyable.

The country should go on strike more often
