Brian Greenhoff died yesterday aged 60

Good player.

Excellent player, Tone, and all the more so for his utility value - it won him 18 caps.

Other particularly poignant news was the death of Mick McManus, aged 93. It seems his wife died in January and he never reconciled with losing her. He refused food towards the end (he was in a nursing home) and lapsed into a coma. I recall James Callaghan died in similar circumstances (ten days or so after he lost his wife).

He was still wrestling therefore in his early sixties (Mick, not the former statesman who to this day is the only person ever to have held all four great offices of state). Billy Bonds has read this and is attempting a comeback at West Haaaam.

It seems that the Greenhoff brothers had a row 20 years ago and had not spoken to each other since.

Jimmy Greenhoff always struck me as a bit of a cunt. I'd imagine he used to beat him as a kid and then older, he found out he was shagging dirty hooers and beating them up and told him to fuck off once and for all
