The lifesaving effects of Peroni
Yes, yes, I'm a real ale man but even I can see the common sense and value of a cold lager on a day like today.
Except it was no ordinary day. I have had the family around, barbecued for quite a few, put up a bloody big paddling pool, finished my tile cutting and will be laying later and put together a bed. I have, as a result, broken manly sweat.
Thing is, when I do that, I get sizeable cramp, usually in my feet - I put it down to not being a big salt user.
Feet seized up earlier for about the sixth time and rather than walk around as if someone had just hammered me on the foot, I cracked open a Peroni. Took one long draught, and the combination of revitalising fluid and muscle relaxant alcohol worked in literally seconds.
God I love this weather...

It's odd, MG, but I always seem to live next door to someone who has retired and someone who is in semi-retirement. Consequently, I am more likely to be the nutter next door...
My house is north facing. The back is therefore fantastic when it's like this.

I don't mind the cooler stuff, BOAT - makes me appreciate the warm stuff. Ice cream and a sit down in the sun on your lunch in the week, enjoy the back while I can otherwise. The occasional bit you can look forward to which would bore the shit out of you if you did it daily.

I sometimes can find myself not in bed at that stage, having slept a couple of hours or more after putting the kids up. Up at three? Lightweights, that's still yesterday

New Era 8 Magnesium Phosphate tablets from H&B bought yesterday. I've used them before and they do the job. Cost about a fiver, you won't need another tub in two years at least.

The bees knees, wasps' nipples and the back of the ladybirds' necks, those tablets. Five seconds to administer, and you're back in your chaps in your Western fantasy looking for the gum arabic to stick your Wyatt Earp moustache back on. Yee hah.

Re: The lifesaving effects of Peroni
Hadn't considered that magnesium phosphate would stop hiccups but makes sense when you think about it. The things you learn...
New Era I think have their salts lined up in the same order as Seven Seas, BOAT. May be that they're the same company, I don't know, but I know historically I have had issues with base metal and alkali metal absorption (Mg, Ca, K for three) simply through activity and these have kept me going so far. A good read.
