Re: message for ABKO,,,
i'm glad you asked.
i would like to do a tidy-up,
clear history,
delete cookies and temporary files.
i think i'm getting clogged-up,
slowed down.
y'know?
i used to have a clean out rgularly.
but since i got windows xp,
i don't seem to able to find the old pop-up with all stuff on.
internet options?
not desperate,
not urgent, but if you could suggest a route/method.

Re: message for ABKO,,,
Download CCleaner for nothing, Eric, and let it do the basic work for you.

Re: message for ABKO,,,
There's no problems with it, Eric, and it does exactly what you need it to.
I always have my history and such set at 0 days as well. I don't see the need for a history. Any site you need to visit again, well, that's what bookmarks are for.

Re: message for ABKO,,,
BERT,
have you used that cccleaner then?
does it need settings?
surely you don't just let run loose.

Re: message for ABKO,,,
You only run it when you want to run it, Eric. Sits there on your desktop, occasionally offers you a free update to a newer version and when you run it, it sweeps out anything non-critical that need not be there.
Does everything in one place that I could do manually from a few and that suits me fine.

Re: message for ABKO,,,
I think there's a download link on the right of screen, Eric. If it offers you a download from FileHippo.com, that's equally good - same file, different source. The installation of the file is three clicks, I think, and you can run it right after. The only thing I don't take is the Yahoo toolbar it offers me because I don't want or need it.
As for unnecessary files, they are just that. Very handy tool, was recommended to me by a boffin I had out a few years back because I kept getting system meltdowns through I would assume incompatible software which came as part of the shop bundle.

Re: message for ABKO,,,
On the Piriform site, click through the FileHippo link. The download will be on the right hand side on the FileHippo page. Launch it, you might get a pop-up. If you do, you have a "click here" meesage that comes up. That'll give you a direct download of a file with a number like fs23.Filehippo.com. Click on "Run". It'll give you a language option, a place to put it in your program files and a few ticked boxes that basically pin it to your desktop and so forth. There's no harm done if you just accept the lot. Last screen after download gives you a chance to run it right off. If you want to, do it, if you don't, just untick the box and finish.
You can use it then any time you fancy and it does the routine maintenance for you that you should be doing anyway.
