So many sandwiches, but sourdough loaf needs to be a part of it.

Re: Favourite sandwich?
Have you cunts ever even had a genuine hot salt beef sarnie?
It really is the king of sandwiches!
A succulent salt beef surrenders to the chew, melting in the mouth and flooding it with flavor.
The rye bread, cut into desirably thick slices, is sufficiently crusty and chewy to accommodate the meat and mustard.
Salt beef, known as pickled beef in the north of England, is a Jewish deli meat comparable to New York corned beef. The benefits of curing brisket, the cut used for salt beef, were originally twofold: First, the salt preserved the meat and killed bacteria, which greatly extended its storage life in the pre-refrigeration era. Second, the salt softened and broke down the tough brisket while letting its flavors slowly develop.

Re: Favourite sandwich?
I grew up in the East End of London and every other shop seemed to be a kosher food shop. They all did them. I started eating them at about 5 years old. I was still buying them up to about 1990 but sadly, all the old places have gone. The only bloke I know who does a decent one is in Ilford....thing is, that's 55 miles from me now.

Re: Favourite sandwich?
It changes for me, but right now, I'm rather partial to cold bacon, sausage & thick chopped egg mayo on a crusty baguette. Sprinkled with salt & black pepper.

Did actually think you'd wonder where I was at, DD, for not saying "full English, black pudding included, on a bin lid"

Re: Favourite sandwich?
I have been sitting here having a think.
At first I was leaning towards a traditional ham and mustard sandwich , which if well done with the right mustard is a favourite of mine.
But then, I dont think you can beat a decent, original , club sandwich , which IMO is a very tasty sandwich.
Then finanly I was thinking a steak sandwich , with a rare steak and some horseradish
Its certainly not as simple a question as it seems at first read.

Given the last time we were on a forum together, Kit, you were surviving on nettles, carrot juice and only foods that had never had a face (I used to taunt veggies by drawing them on to turnips) this is a most intriguing turn...

I would love to go back to being a veggie.
The problem is its so high carb/low protein and I am forever hungry, and therefore eating too much.
Switched to a high protein diet last October and have lost loads of weight.
No eating bread at the moment though, so no sandwich for me anyway.
