a haunting. Empty a haunting.

for god knows how long,
she came by my bus-stop,
every day,
come rain or shine.

and then,
the spoiler,
we made eye-contact.
she sort of half-smiled,half intending to speak,
probably too nervous.
and i looked away.

for the following week,
she walked past my stop,
down the road,
and back up on the other side.
and then,
gone.
didn't see her for ages.

now she is back.
has been back for a while.
comes from the opposite direction now.

for a while she was heavily made-up,
eyelashes all claggy,
pasty-faced,
and lippie,
it didn't suit her.
she looks better without.

at first ,it was like,
maybe she stood somewhere,
waiting for my bus to arrive,
because she'd come into view as i boarded.

now she walks by a few minutes before my bus arrives.

at first,
she'd walk close to the curb-side.
now she walks close to the bus-stop shelter,
and,
occassionally,
a dog comes and sniffs me.

the latest developement,
is that every morning,
she puts a bag of dog-shit in the bin by the shelter.

her face seems,
mmmmmmmmmm,
i don't.
ageless,timeless.

when i look into her face,
i see so much anguish.
i might be wrong of course.
and she is so thin,
but she doesn't look under-nourished.

i wonder :
shall we ever speak?
would she want to speak?

maybe she's an apparition.
fated to walk those dogs,
until the end of time.

and so,
she walks.
and i wait.

life eh?

or forties even.

not that it matters.

i think those thoughts.

Badger which, Abdul? Devastated to find my source of Poacher's Choice no longer does it now. Where's the fun in sending out?

First Gold a real "with lunch" beer - good choice. Not sure if I've had a tilt at the Ferret yet. Golden Glory and Blandford Fly often on the menu here, but Poacher's Choice is the daddy - drink with vintage cheddar and biscuits, you'll want to weep

i find badger the lunchtime sesh beer, can easily keep up wth the ale drinkers on that (don't usualy drink ale these days) but the ferret to me is more of an acquired taste, still nice but only 2 or 3 for me than a change

TBH, She, you're in God's own country for lagers though. A fair trade off. A bit like having Fuller's ESB with Sunday roast beef. It's a British thing
