gas-pipes 'n' conkers.acorns and holly,and beach nuts,

walking to my bus-stop in the mornings.
first,
a small leafy suburb,
that smacks of 2.4kids,
2 cars,
2 very nice cars,
in the drive.
golden retrievers,
and red setters.

then,
a steep hill to negotiate,
lined with a varied selection of trees.
suddenly the path is littered with beech-nuts,
lucky squirrels.
then conkers,
and their green leathery jackets,
strewn everywhere,
slowly decomposing.
happy days.
i don't suppose that kids do that nowadays,
do they?
health and safety.

then i round the corner,
to my bus-stop,
and for as far as the eye can see,
gas-mains pipes.
a mile of yellow plastic.
slowly being joined together by the roadside.
a narrow trench runs parallel,
ready to accommodate said pipeline.

fell asleep on the bus this morning.
again.

i reckon it's getting cold.
wife just came in complaining about how warm it is.

i think she having the meno-thing.
although she doesn't/won't say.

such is life.

do you enjoy the change of the season. I do.

i don't really think about tbh.
but summer to autumn,
there's so much going on with nature.
it's so noticable.

I went conkering on Tuesday, Eric - picking up the gale's windfalls. Got home with them, took them out the bag, got the kids around...

They'd had the same idea and had another bagful. Wonderful stuff.

loads of beach nuts

i forgot to mention the beach-nut litter,
and the tall holly hedgerow rounding the corner of the hill that i climb every morning.

and acorns.
squirrel heaven.

for almost the whole length of steep climb to my bus-stop,
there is natural litter under-foot.

conkers and shells,
acorns,
beach-nuts and husks.

there's even a big conference pear tree in a front garden,
that drops wind-fallen onto the pavement.

it's quite a nice road actually,
inspite of the fact that it IS a main road.

and i picked a nice plateful of mushrooms off of the grass verge last year.

christmas cards have been on sale here for the past few weeks ffs.
