there's this chap,
works at a factory in town.
walks as though he has a severe case of mumps in the balls (not mocking ).

anyway,
he always catches the bus that i caught earlier.
it was pissing down.
i had an umbrella.
he was being rained on.

so,
dilemma.

do i offer to share my umbrella?
would i look stupid in doing so?
might he think that i was pitying him?
be offended, and get abusive.

i didn't get abused.

and i'm sorry.

why are we unable to offer such simple acts of kindness for fear of reprisal or ridicule?
