Why would anyone need cod liver oil in this day and age when they can eat a well balanced diet?

not everybody can.
feels inclined,
or even know what a well balanced diet consists of.
personally,
i don't have the time.

Its quite easy, and cheap, to eat a diet of chicken, lean meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and salad. Far cheaper than take awas or ready meals. I don't know what's wrong with people nowadays.
And as for cod liver oil....has rickets come back or something?

I've got this one, Tone - malabsorption through an underlying condition.

i only eat meat at the weekend.
i love mackerel but it scares the crap out of me.
basically,
i live on jacket-spuds and baked beans.
2 oranges and glucosamine tablet taken daily.

although i di seem to have replaced the beans with tinned tomatoes for now.

was thinking,
years ago,
when i was a kid,
mothers were given bottles of dilute orange,
and cod liver oil for their kids,
up to a certain age.

my uncle used to swig c.l.o. from the bottle.

with kids living on junk-foods,
i couldn't see anything better than giving them a daily dollop.
