I tend to consume lots of music biographies (and I've written a few too). Most are terrible, some very good. Just finished doing an interview with Andrew Mueller whose Rock & Hard Places is a hoot. Especially when he interrogates the leaders of the Taliban in Afghanistan (pre-current war). They attempt to convert him to Jihad at the exact moment an earthquake strikes. Some amusing dialogue.

“You are not married?” enquires Akbar over lunch one day.
No.
“But you are twenty-nine.”
Correct.
“How is this?”
Oh, I don’t know. Stuff.
“But you have had girlfriends?”
Mmm.
“And you have. . . lain with them?”
In general, yes.
“What becomes of them, when you have finished with them?”
They struggle on.
“But what other man will want them?”

I tried to read the biography of Alan Turing, fuck me that is hard going. Gave up just as WW2 finished.

I will try and start it again.
