As someone who grew up around fucking Higson's and then Cain's (I was once in the Coburg on the river, 50 yards down tnhe road from the Cain's brewery. Someone got me a pint of Cain's. It'll have its place, I grant you, but so does celery. Which is "not in my fucking kitchen".

In casseroles, soups, salads or raw with cheese spreads.
Fucking wonderful.

i can't bear to smell or taste it.

It ruins everything, Tone. Supposed to be odourless and tasteless but gets into everything, like barbecue fuel. Like I said, it has a place - "not in my fucking kitchen". The antithesis of the onion (which is strong on scent but mild on taste and should be in everything)
