Something that ive had ongoing for just over 5 years eric, just been getting slowly worse. I dont know if a fall i had on the ladder as made things worse, but they are going through an elimination progress to hopefully eliminate a couple of nasty diseases.

The full head and spine MRI was fucking scary, as i'm a bit claustrophobic in a 4x4. They did 3 sessions about 40 minutes a piece seemed like an eternity., the neck one they fit a brace to summat that pushes down into you clavicle and pushes your chin up so there is no movement at all, pain in the arse when your trying to swallow inside a coffin No No Thought i was going to push the panic button but managed to compose myself and refrain Cool

MRI sounds disturbing, only because people I know have been for it and they forget the in/out way breathing works.

When will you hear, BOAT?

Some of bloods can take 4 weeks bert as they grow cultures with it on brain tissues ....i think 5 years rules out anything really nasty but there as been some chronic progression since my last emg he was talking about some ig therapy IF the problem is my autoimmune system is being over zealous and attacking my nerve fibres throughout my body.

I so often find myself saying this, but we never subscribed to this when we were kids. Working through the scale, I have pals who've had hip replacements having barely broke 40, seen suicides, untimely death through illnesses and accident and murders among my friends and people I grew up around.

To reverse Tom Waits, there is no God; only the Devil when he drinks.

I think the problem kids face today will be much worse so much junk they are eating nowadays, The best time to have been born was probably just after the great war like my granparents were, both well into their 80s and still managed a pint, a game of bingo and a decent turn on down the club. I think the clinical sanitization of everything doesn't help. I maintain a lot of allergens are simply an excessive reaction to something that in a less anodyne, sterile society, wouldn't be an issue because it'd be there and you'd get over it.

Look at penicillin - killed everything less than 60 years ago, including Staph. Aureus. Existed in nature for thousands of years, no problem, did the job.

Half a century of isolation and just about every bug now pisses all over it. All down to adaptation of environment. Like formerly a bit of dirt, the body goes "seen this before, go on, fuck off". Now it goes "what the fuck is that KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT SHUT DOWN THE SYSTEM". The rise in asthma is down to the same - we don't live in draughty rooms with bare walls and floors, it's mould-hiding wallpapers and carpets in a sealed box. No wonder airways close over.

You make some very valid points Bert. Sometimes i wonder if whatever is going off with me was because i had my first ever flu jab about a week before this whole thing started. Neutral

Not a big one for the flu jab but out of odds more than anything else - the average flu jab has a 1 in 15 chance of being "this year's strain".

Swine flu was a different matter - a targeted antiviral, I was given that.

One issue is what they cultivate the jab on - I know they use hens' eggs. And I like my eggs in a full English or an omelette and not intravenously.

I won't have a flu jab even though I am now in an 'at risk' group. Fuck that.

Hope everything is ok though BOAT, nightmare having to have tests and MRI when the Drs don't really know what's up with you. You're left to brew with it. Sad

Happy to see something being done about it tbh. I get the inclination that the slow progression is a good thing and could even burn itself out at some point or treated with reasonable success. The best news he gave me was that the presentation was not typical of a MND (there are a few types) and he's 99% certain its not one of them, but i do have some upper motor neurone disfunction that needs checking out and the cause identified and treated accordingly.

i only know of 2 people who have flu jabs and about this tmie of year and they invariably make them ill for a couple of weeks, i don't know why they bother

boat, maybe you should force yourself to drink a pint of guinness a day - i hear it has health benefits, if you can't find guinness, try a couple of pints of cider with a JD chaser as that works for me and the more i have the better i feel Wink
