Bought an old camera today Kit
Found it in a charity shop and paid a fiver. Immaculate condition in the original box!!
This is the beauty.....from 1957!
I'm going to buy some 120 medium format roll film for it and take it to my mate who still has a dark room to see what I get.
I cut my teeth setting aperture, focus and shutter speed manually from a light meter so it will be fun to do it again. What is incredible is that the fastest shutter speed on the cunt is a 50th of a second!...Mind you it has f32 on it to work with!

Re: Bought an old camera today Kit
I've got an old camera of my dads here.
Can't put it on here, got no webcam or cameraphone.
It's an old Vest Pocket Kodak - ball bearing shutter (whatever that means) got number 15288 going round the lens.
Loads of dates of patents on it, the largest print is patented in Canada 1916.

Re: Bought an old camera today Kit
Just to add from the OP
I still use a light meter
modern digital slrs are like using slide film with the latitude you get, even with RAW
You cannot allow a computer to take control.

Tell you what mate....my digital SLR is excellent and there can be no going back from digital but I so miss burning roll after roll of reversal film on my old Canon AE1, then collecting the slides to see how they'd come out. I especially miss seeing the pics in all their glory on my huge projector screen.

Re: Bought an old camera today Kit
Maybe he was just thinking it would go up in price nobby?
TBH I can see what film has, and i can spot film over digital any day.
But, digital does have more + than - in my opinion.
I get great pictures with ISO at 64000 with my new one, limited noise.
I do have an EOS 1n still though for 35mm film, may use it sometime.

we always used to use fuji velvia, 5 fucking stop latitude , amazing.
Just stick it on a 60th at f8 , let the lab worry about it

If you go here Kit, you can download their free software...it's fun and one of the effects is that you can give any pic a characteristic film cast, including velvia. Very realistic too!

I generally think photos without people in are shit, views are for the eyes not for a photo.

well, thats bollocks really.
I only take take photos with people in, its all I have ever done.
But, some of the best photos are devoid of people, and they generally take much more skill and time.
