I think that's a bit harsh on Watson, Abdul - the other two night have damage from the ring, but his we all saw in glorious technicolor between adverts. Not the same area when talking of progressive issues and the fucking big hit Watson took on the one night and which Gary Newbon thought would be nice to see if any drug aspersions could be investigated while he lay there ostensibly dying.

Can't say that about Watson, though, Abdul - the physical damage he took doesn't make him a fair comparator.

Ali was the same - after fighting Shavers (which at his time of life was fucking madness) his kidneys literally started to collapse. He fought on. I am of the opinion (and I dare say you are as well) that the damage graph line tends to the vertical more and more and quicker and quicker with every passing fight.

You don't get that far down the graph with Watson. Both graphs equally valid for the point you make, but are worth distinguishing if just for making the point of the two possibles (albeit one being far less common than the other)

The guy on the left here is his ex manager Peter De Freitas...a very good friend of mine going back to the 70's.

The pic was taken in early 1996 in Tenerife ....Peter was 41 then...he's 56 now and living in Essex.
Nigel sacked him near the end of his career after a fall out.
