Saw an advert for cut price corned beef the other day at £2 a tin.

£2? Cut price? About 12 years ago I worked with a bloke, Frank, and we were premier advocates of the value that was corned beef at 39p a tin. We even had fucking beer mats with it on.

Now it's five times that? Social deprivation hasn't come out of fuel duty and transport rises above inflation - it's come out of charging people who knew shrewd alternatives five times** what they were paying just over a decade ago.

You're over 65, a tin of corned beef was an austerity measure in 2000. Now it's a fucking luxury during austerity measures? Fuck off.

As an aside, 39p in 2000 should inflate to 53p in 2010. Who's getting that £1.47, then?

Even then Tone, it's now valuable enough to get you two years instead of a fine and caution

Eric, no-one can afford it, what's to be ashamed of?

Meanwhile, to be curmudgeonly, I'd like to know where you're getting your oil and gas from... Razz
