gentlemen,
juicers,
i have a situation that i would very much like to resolve.

some time ago,
i bought my mother one of those mobile phones with the s.o.s. alarm buttons.
she lives alone,
and the s.o.s. facility affords her and fellow siblings a little peace of mind.
but it was cheap, plastic, tacky, and is being a real pain in the arse,
alarm going off, contacting the required three family members as programmed, without her having pressed the red button.

it has an orange p.a.y.g. sim card,
so i would like to replace it with an orange phone really.
i don't think that the phone companies are into this s.o.s./alarm-button gimmick yet,
although it IS a good idea, and pretty dammed handy.
i shall probably trot along to my local orange shop eventually and ask.

nobby,
i think about that.
but it's a council house.

if/when she popped it,
i'd be homeless.

having said that if my wife ever kicks the table over here,
i'll be hoping for a room at her house.

but i simply couldn't cope with all the family goings on. Mad

Could you not just replace with a new SIM, Eric?

not sure what you mean bert.
the phone is shit.
i need to get another phone.
preferably with the s.o.s./alarm function.

i think that i shall just get her another phone that she can carry around with her.
if she ever has an emergency, and is able to get to the one that she has, well then she will be able to set off the alarm/s.o.s. calls.
if not,
well,
i just hope that she will be able to make a call to somebody. Smile

maybe i can find a case to put the phone in.
this red button seems to be so sensitive.

Most local authorities run an alarm system like this eric

http://www.barnsley.gov.uk/central-call-community-alarms

That should give your mother and yourself far more security than having to use a mobile.
