gentlemen,fellow juicers,a serious question............

there's a house that i walk by every night on my way to work,
and i can't help noticing this string of garlics hanging from a hook by the back-door.
and i wonder if it has a practical use.
maybe it deters flies and/or other winged nasties.
i fucking hate flies.

what do you reckon?

if i ever see anybody in the garden i shall ask,
but i never do.
