Always amazed that "do-gooders" is derogatory. As if doing good is some kind of weakness or personality flaw

that's fair point bert.

one that i shall,
we all should,
maybe,
i suppose,
take on board.

but they always seem so,
irritatingly;
squeaky-clean.
holier than thou.
godley almost.
attention-seekers.

too good to be true. Rolling Eyes

but yes,
a fair point.

it's like the definition of nagging,
being repeatedly reminded of unpalatable truths.

i suppose that's the rub.

yes they're usually right.
but hey!
i'm only human.
back off ffs.
not you,
not THEM,
my conscience. Embarassed

i have enough baggage already.

I have strong opinions in this area, Eric. The bloke who is pointed out as a do-gooder invariably intends on doing no good save for his own nest-feathering.

There are, for example, careerist cunts who are out there trying to tell you what to say to not offend when the truth is, you can say anything you fucking well like. Society has generated offence over time. The words are not offensive, but the context they are used in is and has become so.

The prime example is the word "Paki". Historically, it's innocuous and etymologically as a diminutive it should be a term of endearment. Trouble is, for thirty years the word has been spat at any brown face and invariably succeeded by the word "bastard". People now complain they can't say it any more. Well that's because for thirty years you've been spitting it at people, verbally and too frequently physically assaulting people with it. It's no longer acceptable because society made it so by constant abuse.

The careerist cunt has took this example and applied it to everyone else on the off-chance it takes off. Someone said to me the other day that they were watching a training against prejudice video and they had to stop the film when first, a cycle courier comes into a building via the front door and then when a doctor comes in. A black man comes in, pushing a bike. If you press then it says "you only did that because he's black; he's in fact the doctor". Yet the truth is they press the button because he's pushing a fucking bike. Meanwhile careerist cunt has a fat cheque for consultancy on a fucking idiotic video.

yeah.
i think. scratch

it's all bit blurred isn't it.

the "do-gooder"that you refer to,
is little more than a thief.

the real thing,
the genu,
"the meek shall inherit the earth"types.
they irritate me.
and i'm sorry.
i just can't buy into all that.
and i object to them making me feel bad about myself. Mad

like i said,
enough baggage already. Embarassed

i'm sorry,
but there it is.

Alexei Sayle wrote two short stories (they're in Barcelona Plates) titled "The Good Samaritan" and "The Bad Samaritan" and if you read them, it frames the truth of the matter perfectly.

If you're going to treat yourself, get The Dog Catcher as well. His short stories are nothing short of brilliant and play to a gallery on here that would appreciate it
