11 years ago today
I had my heart attack on the Island of Menorca.
5 days in intensive care followed by 12 more in the hospital ward.
Seems like yesterday.

Still kicking, though, Tone - like Michael Caine said "given the alternative..."
How did you find the care and aftercare across both systems?

The care I had in Menorca was fantastic.
That's what medical insurance does for you.
My care in this country since has been acceptable.

"Buenos dias, Senor Queso"
The UK (and you know my opinion on the NHS, Tone) is one of those situations where because of successive cunting governments, the "centres for excellence" mean that if you're in Liverpool and going to have a stroke, you want to do it in Fazakerley whereas if you burn yourself, the nearer St Helens (for Whiston) the better.
The cardio centre of excellence is Broadgreen. Consequently, it has no fucking A&E (we fought for it to be retained but it closed in '95). Genius. You have to move to the Wirral for Clatterbridge for oncology

Here in this corner of Essex, everyone has to use Colchester Hospital....all the others all the way to London in one direction and Ipswich in the other have been closed.
The current wait for an ambulance is around 2 hours.
