Radicalisation - the only reason for radicalisation of anyone is that there has been pressure enough to start a movement in that direction. It's reaction to action. That's how it works. No-one radicalises when everything's fine.

I'm not talking conspiracy, but the identification of individuals to their detriment causes them to be witch-hunted. I've posted radicalisation, for example, and everyone will have had in their mind "of Muslims" as the next two words. Former Home Secretary Delia Pornhusband and Harry Harman planted that seed.

It doesn't end there though. A riot in Ford Open prison, protests of a level not seen in thirty years in a country of indolents who see a flood in Australia and whose concern ends at how it will affect house prices in the Home Counties, police brutality making its way back into the dictionary, lack of transparency, enquiry, accountability in government, policing, press, this country is privy to no end of shouts of "free speech" and people don't realise you have none. It isn't a Christian country because aside from the lack of influence over state matters that the church has, the one commandment you should follow as a Christian is love God and love your fellow man.

Not this country, not in recent times. In the world press freedom index, we're 19th and that's with a press that can fucking lie its tits off and then investigate itself as "fine". In the democracy index, we're, yes, 19th, below Spain (who until 1975 had 36 years of fascism and whose army was still riddled with the same for years after). We are 0.17 points (out of 10) from being assessed as a flawed democracy - less than two percent over the line. And we were once the template for the world. For fuck's sake, we're behind Germany, and there's a country whose democratic record isn't exactly Norway's. We're a Berlusconi away from being Botswana.
