Royal Ascot
Big week coming up. FWIW, the Ascot Stakes should already be won. Competitive handicap or not, Henry Cecil stated a week or two back that Tiger Cliff wins it. Owner also has Lieutenant Miller which he fancied when Cecil said "why have you entered it when you have the winner here in my yard?"
So there.
So there.

Re: Royal Ascot
Tuesday, I'm taking Paddy Power up on its offer of money back if Animal Kingdom wins. Frankly, Declaration of War did not become a bad horse overnight because it was twatted by Farhh (see the Bet of the Day thread). If someone is going to let me back it at 7s and give me my money back if the even money favourite wins, well, I'm not the cunt.

Wins 15/2 and 2nd, 4/1
Next best is 2nd, 5/1 and really should have got it in the Steward's Room IMO
Unplaced, 12/1. Fucking Sole Power, stunk at Haydock last up and previously given on the BOTD thread...
20/1 (yes, 20/1) winner and 100/1 unplaced.
I repeat the post above. I am fucking good to you.
Tomorrow has three fillies' races. I'll be playing on sufferance

Re: Royal Ascot
Thursday, in front of everything else, if Rite of Passage is sound again and retains its ability, 7/1 or so is a fucking steal for the Gold Cup as it's a far better horse than the rest of the field.
Cape Peron is a well-touted sort for the Britannia (which if backing for cash, go to Paddy Power - they're paying on the front 6) and 7s for a horse they have yet to get a hold of.
Royal Skies won an egg and spoon race last week but did it as well as can be expected and might be on for better things in the last. Chopin looked unlucky at Epsom and should get a chance to show his true form,
Sayyeer and Alive Alive Oh to top out the card.

Three fucking non-runners. Nap and NB yielded a place at PP and a NR.
Tomorrow is Loving Spirit's chance. 6 places at PP again, a must back, IMO

Paddy Power, Tone. As luck would have it I've had leave to walk by one every day this week.
Others today
MAUREEN to put in a proper show 3.45
We'll try ROYAL SKIES again, NR yesterday 5.00
ALBASHARAH looks tidy 4.20
Speculative tilt at the odds on (Epsom form usually a negative) on FANTASTIC MOON

Re: Royal Ascot
Last day is arguably the best day for punters. Wokingham 72 second cavalry charge aside (and you already know I have a live one IMO) the Queen Alex is for decent horses just not quite Gold Cup contenders, the Hardwicke is for marginally below top class 12f horses, the Golden Jubilee is a posh Wokingham but non-handicap, the 2yo race has more unlikelies than likelies and the middle distance handicap is usually a place for horses not quite up to black type winning their keep.
So
FREEDOM SQUARE - Has fast ground form, indeed, just has form
MOUNT ATHOS - Could win everything put before it this year, running in grade IMO
DANDY BOY - Gets 7f (which is always handy as it's a stiff 6), has a handle on Ascot (big winner there twice in three visits)
NOCTURN - On the BOTD thread, I have a bit of a soft spot for this horse. I believe with experience, it could have been in the race before. Still improving
SIR GRAHAM WADE - Can't have it in Group races, can have it in a handicap. Potential fancy price as well. Hasn't run in a handicap since winning one five or six runs back. Lively.
SHAHWARDI - The Queen Alex is a procession like the London Marathon. Half of the field will be dressed as pantomime horses and there'll be a couple of elites at the front. The elitemost. Hard to see it not placing at the very worst.

Memories for me of this last day include watching Cover Up land all sorts of bets for me in the Queen Alex, including a three-figure Placepot. Happy days...

It's not for everyone, Tone, but I fell in love with going there rather than betting. You can look up Saxon Slave when it won its first race over hurdles. First race I ever saw live, took 6s, won 13/2, in for life.

Unfathomable run on Mount Athos. Stays much further than 12f but ridden like a miler going into unknown territory. Made ground up hand over fist when it was too late

Top hats are fucking ridiculous pieces of kit.
Gary Player (yes, the golfer) is on the telly now. As it's the last day of the meeting, a bit disappointing he's not all in black.

Re: Royal Ascot
Have had a twat of a meeting so far, when I've found something I've failed to capitalize. Have had the first two winners today, though, and would have put up the rest of the card (my two for the day are in the sprints as I have 1/3 odds each race today) but I'm taking my luck where I can find it currently.

Re: Royal Ascot
3 winners, 2 places and a sixth that would have won me a few EW today. Completely vindicated the arse of the rest of the week, and nice to see Telescope fulfil something that was more expected when it was touted for last year's Derby.

Re: Royal Ascot
Glad I haven't been putting my showings up this week, tbh. Have found a 12/1 winner (went off 13/2) and a 7/1 winner (9/2) as morning prices have been a feeding frenzy, as well as an 18/1 second, EW, which hung across the course and possibly cost it the win, but they've not been running in behind them. Today was fillies largely today as well and they are unfathomable.
Last day tomorrow, might put a few up. Wokingham is one I tend to do well in (Tatlisu a runner but a twat of a draw, will come back later)
