Re: Bet Of The Day
That is very moving Bert.
I'm backing the nag too now.
It will be like him carrying an extra 2 stone though.

Tidal Bay is an ornery fucker, Tone. He'd run well just to piss you off...

Re: Bet Of The Day
Well, small win for place money but fuck me, I was ready to blub like a baby approaching the last three. Not a fan of a jockey giving away ground on heavy going (you can give weight, you can't give ground) and had he been slightly handier a mile out, well, who knows.
You won't see many 13 year olds with a live shot at the National but if he stays in training, I have no qualms about going back to that well.

Re: Bet Of The Day
Only posting this because of standout prices with, of all people, Ladbrokes
Lord of Scotland 25/1 2.55 Kemp Pulled up lame in running, travelling well when going wrong
Emperor's Choice 16/1 3.50 Utt Beaten a way out, ground probably quicker than expected/noted
EW singles, half stake EW double, highly speculative but 16s and 11s elsewhere

Re: Bet Of The Day
Two today
Cloudy Too 2.05 Haydock - good enough to run in a Gold Cup, down in class today and should go well, welter burden or not.
Frasers Hill 3.30 Kempton - against some hardened types but Varian is a master at getting a horse with problems back and competitive. Been gelded which although bad for the horse tends to change its demeanour
Usual singles, quarter stakes EW double. Have a fancy for Hold Court in the 2.40 as well

Petit Robin 3.10 Asc 25s is huge 2nd, 25/1
Falcon Island 3.40 Asc by Turtle Island, should be less inconvenienced by the ground TO COME
Bakbenscher 1.45 Hay 100% (3/3) on heavy ground, liked its comeback, discounting last run back at 2m 4f WINS 4/1, was 5s at posting
Cannington Brook 2.15 Hay to repeat last year's win WINS 9/2 was 5s at posting
EW Lucky 15 and EW singles at 5x Lucky 15 unit stake
Cause of Causes up top of the weights at Fairyhouse in the Irish National today. Ran well without getting there at Cheltenham, going further today with better handling, have taken this over Goonyella, the horse that missed its run by one at Aintree. Cause of Causes it is.
That would have been a fucking bet and a half even without the last runner, still a fair sketch running on

Re: Bet Of The Day
Absolute cunt of a ride IMO. Finished twelfth having not given up the back of the field to anyone. Big field staying handicaps are all the same; you can give away weight but you can't give away ground. They run for four and a half miles around Aintree and your winner is never found in the back half of the field all the way round. The Scottish National is usually won by some fucking thing that seems to deny all odds and is in the front 4 all the way. The Irish National is no different. Sitting at the back and hoping you're riding Pegasus is never going to cut it. Melt.

On a fucking awful streak at the minute - if I threw my hat in the floor I'd fucking miss. With that in mind
Swing Bowler 3.30 Hay
Loving Spirit 3.50 Asc
10s or so and 12s or so. Usual staking

Re: Bet Of The Day
Swing Bowler got a cunt of a ride from a cunt of an apprentice (Mikey Ennis is not well thought of and for good reason - you can give anything away except ground, especially on the soft, and he gave the fucking back up for no-one)
Loving Spirit was beaten a fucking mile out. It was over 7f. You can smell my current run from wherever you are in the world.

Re: Bet Of The Day
Ennistown 4.15 Redc
Rebecca's Choice 4.30 Cart
Usual stipulations but have bit of an itch today that these will both drop in. 13/2 and 9/2 guaranteed

Re: Bet Of The Day
Rebecca's Choice a second, never having got to the front running Jurisdiction.
Ennistown sat out back, mild effort and stunk out Redcar, which is a particularly good trick as the place reeks, apparently.
