Re: Bet Of The Day
Did it again last Saturday although my two against the world didn't go to plan - my absolute stone cold banker win and place at an early 7/2 was Great Heavens which stunk Ascot out, while Maarek won as NB at an early 15/2. Also had a small multiple that was a whisker from paying for a fucking good holiday (see how Medinas ran at Cheltenham - fourth leg of an all-winning E/W Lucky 15).
Aftertiming aside... ... I do have a wee fancy today for the Ayr sprints form standing up to scrutiny again (see the Ayr thread) and will have a penny or two on Gatepost 3.15 Donc

Re: Bet Of The Day
Judging its last two runs, Tone, it'd appreciate 7f with some give in the ground. Time suggests it was quicker than expected underfoot too.
Nothing seems to have come out of Ayr and stunk the place out subsequently, though, which is rare for a clutch of sprint handicaps

Re: Bet Of The Day
Going for four naps or NBs on a Saturday in a row, shortest price winner 6/1 so no pressure...
First up, I'm going to back a horse wildly speculatively as it has finished stone cold fucking last twice in its last three runs. The one in between, though, it went close to if not actually breaking the track record at Haydock. That run took me back to a horse of David Barker's named Sierra Vista which had one way of winning. Gates open, off she'd go, catch me if you can. This horse did that at Haydock and had some useful scalps behind it.
I am willing to take around 40/1 for Cheviot to do the same today. If they run this race forty times, it hares off and doesn't get caught in more than one. 2.30 Donc
Secondly, I'm not put off by the piecemeal form figures of Gouray Girl in the 4.20 at Newbury. Won't be as inconvenienced as the rest by the ground, will benefit from the extra furlong, 13/2 is out there
Win singles, quarter stake E/W double

Cheviot simply never got to the front. Winner won at Ayr in the three sprint card again

And Gouray Girl was never put in the race, a never nearer fourth. A fucking basic on soft ground is that you can give away weight but you can never give away ground.

Re: Bet Of The Day
Going to be greedy today. Daytime
Bancnuanaheireann in the 2.30 at Newmarket
Sam Nombulist in the 4.10, same meeting
Very much speculative, up to 10s and 16s respectively, but the usual 2pts win each and 0.5 pt EW double
Tonight, though, Breeders Cup at Santa Anita - Irish eyes to be smiling...
St Nicholas Abbey 10.18pm
Excelebration 11.40pm
Don't bother with EW terms, industry prices are around the 3/1 mark and just over evens. Back them both singly and doubly, Excelebration has had a career (barring debut) that entirely consists of winning or coming in next behind Frankel. St Nicholas Abbey has met Frankel as well over 10f but tonight it gets everything it needs - 12f, decent ground, no wonder horse in opposition. They are the best in their fields and Aidan O'Brien doesn't make excuses.

Big price winner again. R4 takes around a quarter in the pound.
St Nicholas Abbey meanwhile ran well without getting to the front.

Re: Bet Of The Day
Excelebration fourth, not beaten far at the same time. I'm not overly enamoured with the American style of racing it appears to be all headclock on the same flat oval 1m tracks and little in terms of positional sense and jockeyship otherwise.
Ended up with 11.2/1 (14/1, 20p R4) for my winner, so nae bad.
Tomorrow I will be betting for early hours Tuesday - Melbourne Cup, it's about time Filthy won it. Mount Athos is probably the best tilt he's ever going to have at it IMO

Re: Bet Of The Day
Last day of the flat. Fucking Sunday League fat cunts for four months plus after today
Rude not to pitch in a November Handicap runner in a race that hasn't been unkind to me over the years.
Pashan Garh 11.50 Donc
Party Line 2.35 Donc
Around 8s and 12s, usual win singles and a quarter of stakes EW double
Last race of the flat season - 3.45 - has last week's winner Sam Nombulist out again. 16/1 is big as I reckon it has a knocking win and place chance

Re: Bet Of The Day
Pashan Garh was placed but that's no fucking use at all.
Mount Athos midweek, meanwhile, was flying at the death, would have placed but for a bump at the last turn and could well have won if it'd been nearer the front. Horse with a future

Genzy Sometime after 2pm at Lingfield
Poquelin in the Mackeson, whatever they're fucking calling it now
Usual script, fucking jump racing, how am I supposed to enthuse?

Hennessy today. Backed Tidal Bay (second) but frankly out of interest.
Will win the National 2013. Remember that.
Other than that, I restate - jump racing is fucking shit

Real set of darts today but on bottomless ground across the country
Petit Robin 3.10 Asc 25s is huge
Falcon Island 3.40 Asc by Turtle Island, should be less inconvenienced by the ground
Bakbenscher 1.45 Hay 100% (3/3) on heavy ground, liked its comeback, discounting last run back at 2m 4f
Cannington Brook 2.15 Hay to repeat last year's win
EW Lucky 15 and EW singles at 5x Lucky 15 unit stake

Re: Bet Of The Day
Fuck me ragged, I hate 4yo hurdlers because it's a big horse's game and they're too young but Cause of Causes is a particular cunt of the species
That would have been a fucking bet and a half even without the last runner, still a fair sketch running on

Re: Bet Of The Day
Last one third in a nine-horse race with two non-runners (one albeit a second preference) bringing it down to seven. Fuck off.

Re: Bet Of The Day
No idea what happened there but I was weighed in for all four places on two separate bets (one, EW Yankee with win/place singles, one an EW Lucky 15) with one bookie online and a different one for cash
Turns out by their rules they settle the race as the original eight (or nine) runner race for place only purposes as long as there are more places available than dividends and with a Rule 4. Fucking mint

Today's sporting brace:
Duke of Lucca 350 Kemp - too big at 12/1 or thereabouts
Doeslessthanme 320 Chep - thievery at 6s in a dead eight
EW singles, half stake EW double with a bookie that goes 1/4 all handicaps
