Re: Bet Of The Day
Place money landed on Duke of Lucca. With a less cagey ride over the last four (which I think was a bit crap of a pro - poor positioning and repeated loss of momentum as a result), it was a potential winner. SP 10s, took 12s

Re: Bet Of The Day
Uninspiring pre-Cheltenham fare today but
Calgary Bay 255 Dnc - touch of class in the race, has an exemplary record at Donny, McCoy booting it round and uninspiring opposition. OK, go on then. 6s or so.
Mortimers Cross 240 Nby - better horse on better ground, a low weight commensurate with ability and pretty consistent discounting the heavy going last up. 14s is too big
Usual EW staking
Would also look at Onlyorsanfoolsies 340 Kelso as it will win or it won't in equal measure, IMO - effectively untested and so 7s is huge. Downside is he's a 4yo and shouldn't really be hurdling as they're still babies but that's just me

Re: Bet Of The Day
Dropped out after a mile and ridden for a possible place it didn't get because the Racing Post would describe it as "In contention for the first mile but was jumping like a cunt, given a blow to try and get over without smashing through the fucking things". Twatted the cross fence while looking to come back in contention 5 out which finished its chances, came home in its own time.

Re: Bet Of The Day
Not today with those two. Calgary Bay hacked around and was looking the part for two miles but didn't have the toe to stay with them over 3m2f. Wouldn't put it out of the National on that showing

Re: Bet Of The Day
Two each ways, usual stipulations
Many Clouds 2.05 Sand - solid place claims at worst IMO
General Miller 3.15 Sand - massive price for a horse that appears to retain old ability but hasn't been seen too much lately

On a point better, Tone
If the winner of that race is a measure of the wellbeing of Nicky Henderson's horses, the other is no 20/1 shot

General Miller never in it, they went a mental pace on the ground but of course you can give weight but you can't give ground

Barizan placed in the Imperial as well. If you see me limp it's for the self-kicking I am about to administer...

Not too bad, Eric. Treading water really until the flat starts but the jumps has been kind to me when I've had a go this winter. I'm putting it down to the extreme ground which does a lot of sorting for you

Re: Bet Of The Day
Irish National there is a former Cheltenham regular (ran in Supreme Novices and Punjabi's Champion Hurdle) that had a decent win when stepped up to 3m a year or two back.
Has ran in a Hennessy, gets in on a low weight and fair scraps of form even now, lightly raced at age 10 and formerly 20lbs a better horse.
33/1 sighted, worthy of EW money, if it stays 30f it must have a squeak
Muirhead 4.50 Fairyhouse

Re: Bet Of The Day
Fuck me, stays 3m 5f and then some. Never nearer sixth, beaten not very far at all, run on from another county but never near enough to challenge.
Holds an entry for Aintree next week over 3m 1f. On that showing I'd have it up at Ayr the week after for the Scottish National. Has an Ayr-type rating of 137 too and doesn't loo as if it's had a race

Two for the day
Northside Prince 255 Donc
Jack Dexter 330 Donc
Still wondering if they've got hold of Jack Dexter, all sprint trips come alike to him and he keeps winning. Usual singles, quarter stake EW double

Petit Robin 3.10 Asc 25s is huge
Falcon Island 3.40 Asc by Turtle Island, should be less inconvenienced by the ground
Bakbenscher 1.45 Hay 100% (3/3) on heavy ground, liked its comeback, discounting last run back at 2m 4f
Cannington Brook 2.15 Hay to repeat last year's win
EW Lucky 15 and EW singles at 5x Lucky 15 unit stake
Remember this? Top one goes again and I'm relative sanguine about four today, so same stipulation of bet applies - EW Lucky 15 and so forth
Global Village 2.20 Nby - Could have won the Lincoln, making a name for itself in the big occasions, one to keep onside. 8s or so
Sametegal 2.40 Ayr - Yes, a four year old, yes, I'm not in favour but I thing the Triumph this year might just have thrown up a couple of useful sorts. 6s about
Petit Robin 3.15 Ayr - Undoubtedly able, now seems to run its race whereas before it was more in and out. Top weight for a reason. 4s
Rebeccas Choice - Already advised on Scottish National thread. 20s

Oh, and these ran like drains although there was a punt from 7s to 4s on JD on the off. I don't seem to get much out of Doncaster in particular lately

Re: Bet Of The Day
Aside from Muirhead (350 Sand)
Win singles and half stakes double
Manyriverstocross 255 Ripn
Sanctuaire 240 Sand
A further two, similar staking but more sporting
McVicar 130 Sand
Al Kazeem 315 Sand
EW Lucky the 4, EW Canadian the 5, small stakes, nothing silly
Outside bet - General Miller EW 205 Sand

Manyriverstocross 255 Ripn Unplaced, boxed itself in at a crucial stage. Should any jockeys look in, if you're at Ripon, it is the statistically most prevalent course for front-running winners. Even more so than Chester. Don't fucking Spencer me from the back.
Sanctuaire 240 Sand Unplaced and connections decided to give away fifteen lengths at the start, the fucking melts. Jump racing...
A further two, similar staking but more sporting
McVicar 130 Sand Unplaced
Al Kazeem 315 Sand Wins, 9/4
EW Lucky the 4, EW Canadian the 5, small stakes, nothing silly
Outside bet - General Miller EW 205 Sand 3rd 16/1, was bigger in the morning
With the exception of McVicar, all of these should have placed. Twats

Aside from Toronado as my Guineas horse
Two singles, EW double today
License to Till 2-05 - ground and a sporting mark for it
Sole Power 2-35 - IMO practically a free bet EW - cannot see it not placing at worst. Some average sprinters in there IMO
